Mazie's Marathon AdoptAThon brings 300 adoptable pets to Fairview this weekend

Mazie’s Mission will team up with PetSmart Charities to host a large scale pet adoption event this weekend. The “Forever Home Marathon” will be held at the Village at Fairview from 9:00 pm on Friday to 6:00 pm on Sunday. The goal for the event is to find loving homes for over 250 homeless animals in one weekend.

Erin Shults, DVM and CEO of Mazie’s Mission states “We euthanize over 200,000 animals in North Texas every year. It is time to show the public the amazing animals that are available for adoption through shelters or rescue groups. The tide is turning where it is more popular to adopt a homeless pet than to buy a pet from a breeder, a pet store or online.”

The event will last 45 hours, offering adoption discounts and specials during midnight hours. More than 300 animals will be onsite to choose from including puppies, kittens, dogs and cats. Adoption fees include spay/neuter and vaccinations. Adoptions will also include a number of coupons, giveaways, id tags and treats. Partnering organizations for this unique event include PetSmart, North Texas Cat Rescue, Feral Friends, HART, Humane Society of North Texas, LARAs House, Collin County Animal Services, and Young County Humane Society.

A number of special activities and giveaways are planned throughout the weekend highlighting the “Marathon” theme. There will be live bands, a DJ, dog friendly games such as musical chairs and trivia, and activities for the whole family. 102.9’s Jagger and Tara will kick things off on Friday.  Saturday’s schedule includes Kristie and Turtle the Painting Pitbull at 9:00 a.m., Frisco’s own acoustic artist and singer Ben Shurr from noon to 1:30 and then the Soul Blue Band goes on at 6 p.m.   On Sunday, Four Paws Up Dancing Dogs takes the stage at 9:30 a.m.; Officer Bill Knight, Deputy Robert Langwell and K9 partner Elo stop by at 12:30 p.m. and 4 Ever Young and the Reflections are scheduled to play at 3 p.m.  Throughout this event, Mazie’s Mission and other participating organizations will work together to bring a fun, positive light to pet adoption while saving hundreds of lives in the Dallas area.
